Google Documents

As mentioned in RIDC Forum here, you can make use of your given lifetime-free Raffles Designer email account (with the cool @raffles-designer.com address). Here is a comprehensive tutorial on how to send files through Google Documents with images:
1. First, you have to login through your Raffles email or any other Google email that you have.

 2. Next you will arrive at your mail page. What you will do next is to click the Documents tab above Raffles logo (between other tabs like Mail, Calendar, Sites, etc) and you will then arrive at Google Documents section.

3. In the Google Documents, you can create new files and upload your file. Keep in mind that creating files are only for file compatible to use with Google Documents application (such as Google Document, Presentation, Spreadsheet, Form, Drawing, Collection, etc). If you want to upload your own Microsoft Office documents, click the upload button.

4. You should reach the file uploading page as shown below.
a. This is where you can drag and drop your files that you want to upload. Files dropped here will have their file names and sizes shown. If you want to remove you can click the remove button next to each files.
b. This is the indication on how big is the total files' size. Keep in mind that you have a maximum 1024 mb in file size to upload (1.024 gb is usually enough on most cases).
c. This is the button for uploading files. When you click on it you will be taken to browse your file. The reason this button exists even though there is a drag-and-drop method is because occasionally the drag-and-drop box may not function (most possibly due to slow internet connection).
d. If you have any files that correspond to the type of files offered by Google Document's service (such as Microsoft Office's Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Powerpoint presentation, etc), they will be converted into Google's format for you. At this moment if you want your files to be shared (downloaded) by others, you can untick both these options.
e. Destination collection lets you designate into which folders will your files be uploaded (if you created folders), given if you want to permanently store your files. Private lets you assign permission pertaining to downloading your files. It is advised to choose the option Anyone with the link since you can just give the link to your friend to download it, while other options have limitation to who can access the file/link to the file. Once you are done, click the Start upload button to upload the files.

Next is to click the button Back to Google Docs below Raffles logo.

5. You will then arrive at previous page with the upload button (no. 3). In the middle page you will see your uploaded files there. If you want to let people download your file, click on the button Settings next to Sharing on the right hand side of the files section. Remember, you have to first select which file you want to let people download your file (before clicking on the settings button).

6. There will be a pop-up showing the option to the sharing settings as seen below. The link there will be what you can give as a download link for others.

For the rest of the features of Google Docs, I will leave it to all of you to experiment (such as making folders, collections, organizing download links, etc). Just keep in mind that you have only 1024 mb in total for files that you want to send to others, meaning that you can send 1 file of up to 1024 mb in size or multiple files totaling up to 1024 mb in sizes. If you want to keep sending large files simultaneously, you must delete the file that you have uploaded previously. A warning though, that this will mean the links to deleted files will not work anymore. If you want to send bulk files continuously, I suggest using other services such as MailBigFile and YouSendIt. Both are also good methods in sending files without the flaw that Google Documents have (but they have their own disadvantages as well!).
